Hi, I’m James, an integrative counsellor offering a safe, inclusive space where you can explore your challenges and identity without fear of judgment. My counselling approach is grounded in empathy, lived experience, and a deep respect for diversity.
I was born in Malaysia, raised in multicultural London, and now live in a city that at times can lack the same level of acceptance. These experiences have shaped not only my worldview but also my commitment to creating a space where difference is embraced—not questioned. I’m also part of a family that includes LGBTQ+ relatives who have experienced marginalisation and discrimination. These personal insights help me bring depth, humility, and real-world understanding to the culturally infused and intersectionality-informed counselling I offer.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in leadership and management—mentoring people, building teams, and supporting individuals through times of change and pressure. But it was through introspection and my own healing journey that I realised my true passion was helping people feel seen, heard, and supported—especially those who, like me, have had to navigate complex layers of identity, belonging, and systemic challenges.
Now, I work with clients from a variety of backgrounds facing a range of issues, from anxiety, depression, grief and trauma to workplace stress and identity-related challenges. My integrative approach draws on person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural techniques, and culturally aware frameworks—always tailored to your needs and unique lived experience. I offer a safe and welcoming space where you can explore your challenges, identity, and wellbeing at your own pace.
I recently completed my BA (Hons) in Counselling and am currently expanding my expertise with postgraduate CBT training. I’m also registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I work in line with their ethical framework—something I deeply value and adhere to in all aspects of my practice. My therapeutic work combines person-centred values with cognitive behavioural strategies and a strong foundation in cultural awareness and intersectionality.
Whether you’re facing anxiety, grief, trauma, workplace stress, or identity-based challenges, and wish to reconnect with your sense of self, I’m here to walk alongside you.
