My name is Nicholas. My pronouns are He/Him. I am a counsellor based in Manchester. As well as working as a Counsellor, I am also a Youth Worker. I also have a background in activism, as well as study of holistic therapies, including massage and Yoga.
As a counsellor, I aim to create a space where clients' existing knowledge, experience and cultural perspective is valued. I build my relationship with clients through active listening and sensitive questioning. I may also share my perspective and insight where I think this could be helpful. I see personal value in community and connection to the body and the outside world. I can explore these elements with clients. However, I am essentially concerned with exploring with my clients what feels more supportive and healing to them. I can also provide practical support through planning and preparation for life events. I recognise that some issues can’t be resolved in the present moment. In these cases, I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor can be healing.
My practice centres marginalised people, which means I aim to create a therapeutic space in which marginalised identities can be explored with dignity, respect and nuance, rather than being overlooked or over-generalised.
I am a gay man and can help with navigating sexuality and queer relationships. I am also diagnosed with ADHD and can support working with the challenges that neurodivergent people sometimes face. Some other issues I can explore with clients are those relating to ableism, abuse, ADHD, anxiety, culture, discrimination, education, family, gender identity, grief, homophobia, racism, sexual identity, transphobia and work. While I do not claim to be fully knowledgeable to all issues and experiences, my approach is one of openness, non-judgement and growth.
I am trained to Level 5 in Person Centred Therapy. I also credit much of my learning about therapeutic support to working with numerous organisations campaigning for anti-racist education and queer and trans inclusivity.
The price of my counselling sessions is on a sliding scale, with a hope to increase the financial accessibility of my work. Currently I am only able to offer online therapy to adults and young people ages 16 years and above.
Please be advised that I offer separate Terms & Conditions to Celestial-Therapy.com and these will be provided prior to any 1st session.
